About the scholarship
The PSC - M. Rodriguez Patriot Scholarship Program offers scholarships of $4,500 each to college or university students:
- who are majoring in one of the life sciences
AND
- who have lost a spouse or parent in the line of duty in service to the United States or in the terrorist attacks of 9/11 (see Eligibility Criteria ).
The candidates selected will be flown to Los Angeles to receive the award. Overnight lodging and the return flight will be paid as well.
Terms and payment
This scholarship will be awarded for one academic year and is renewable for no more than two (2) years or until the student earns a degree.
Scholarships are paid directly to the school or institution to pay for the awardee's tuition for one academic year Fall-Spring 2005-2006. Should the tuition for that period total less than $4,500, the balance will be paid to the student to help cover the price of books (estimated to be $1,200 per academic year).
The scholarship is available only to those students studying in the U.S. or its possessions.

When to apply
Please submit your on-line Pre-Application as soon as possible. The deadline for application packet submissions to the PSC - M.Rodriguez Patriot Scholarship Program is March 1, 2005 for the academic year 2005-2006. Applications will be accepted at any time prior to that date. The scholarship award will be announced in May 2005.
